Hawkeye pride: E-2C continues mission as new model rolls out

To the casual observer of carrier flight operations, the Navy’s E-2C Hawkeye aircraft may seem like the ugly ducklings of carrier air wings. But to those who’ve made careers of flying and fighting these early warning aircraft, they’re swans.
Those who fly them call them “Hummers,” a nickname derived from the distinctive sound of their turboprop engines.

Developmental Trial of Agni-IV Missile Today

India is all set to carry out the fourth developmental trial of 4,000 km range nuclear capable Agni-IV missile from a defence base off Odisha coast on Monday. The missile is likely to be test fired from the Wheeler Island test facility.
Defence sources said while range integration had been completed for the test, initial countdown has begun at the test range. The intermediate range ballistic missile (IRBM) would be fired in full operational configuration between 8 am and 12 noon on Monday.

UK orders near for F-35 'stealth’ jet

Britain's Ministry of Defence is close to placing its first major tranche of orders for the F-35 fighter jet, with an award for about 14 of the “stealth” warplanes due in the next few weeks.

The orders for the new plane, being built in an international project led by US defence giant Lockheed Martin, will signal the increasing role of the British military in the controversial F-35 programme.

But the aircraft is also of vital importance to UK manufacturing companies, with more than 500 British companies, led by the likes of BAE Systems and Rolls-Royce, working on the project.
